HomesteadingGear.com reviews equipment for people building a more self-sufficient life. Freeze dryers, chicken coops, solar systems, pressure canners, composting gear, beekeeping supplies, we cover the tools that make homesteading work.
Our reviews are based on real-world community data. We read thousands of Reddit threads, forum posts, and owner reviews to find out what equipment actually holds up, and what falls apart after the first season.
How We Review
- We aggregate community consensus from homesteading forums, Reddit, and owner reviews
- We track long-term reliability data (1+ year ownership reports)
- We include real cons in every review, not just the sales pitch
- We compare products head-to-head with transparent criteria
- We never accept payment for placement or higher ratings

Where a link goes through one of those, we earn a commission on a purchase.
Some pages link directly to a manufacturer where that is the only place a product is sold, or the sensible place to buy it. Unless a program is named above, those links are ordinary outbound links and earn us nothing. We would rather send you to the right place unpaid than to a worse product for a commission.
If we join another program we will name it here.
